Life is a Dance
"Let us remind the frivolous how much they need to gird up their loins and flight like gladiators against the common enemies of humanity. And let us also remind the earnest contenders for all good causes how much life needs the illumination of beauty, the enrichment of art, the refinement of grace, the stimulus of rhythm, and the leaven of laughter. Life is a struggle and life is also a dance." Winfred Garrison, Affirmative Religion, 1928

Great thought for today -- thanks for posting this!
You're really back!
What is the future of a nation that has the following mentality?
Believes it is moral to make mega profits off the sick and needy:
Believes it is moral to deny coverage to its citizens for pre existing conditions:
Has 30 to 50 million people without health care insurance:
Has wars for profits for the few creating suffering around the world:
Calls their soldiers heroes for fighting in those wars for profits:
Builds monuments to those soldiers after they had killed one million Vietnamese in an illegal ideological war for profits: then there is Iraq and afghan.
Has a military expense larger than all of the other 23 industrialized countries combined:
Has states where families take pride in raising their children to fight in these illegal and immoral wars for profits:
Has 720 military bases around the world:
Believes that capitalism and patriotism are synonyms:
Corporate and military control of congress, white house, and now the supreme court and the election process:
A government that panders to Wall Street, banks, and corporations for money:
A nation that the prisons are over flowing with crime and drug problems:
One out of eight children on food stamps:
Hundreds of thousands going bankrupt over medical costs unheard of in other industrialized countries:
Corporations control most of the mass media:
A self acclaimed Christian nation that worships at the altar of capitalism an economic and political ideology of survival of the fittest mentality that goes against everything their savior taught:
A nation that has open borders with a third world country not out of compassion but a corporate and small business desire for cheap labor, long hours with no benefits:
A nation that gives tax breaks to corporations and the rich while many of their citizens lack medical care and live in poverty and die in their wars for profits:
A nation that one per cent of the population has more wealth than the bottom 95%:
A nation of tea baggers so dumbed down they are protesting for the very people that funds their efforts but robs them of their personal freedoms and any remaining wealth:
An educational system based on survival of the fittest competition now in shambles:
A university system beholden to the industrial military complex for grants:
A religious university that builds a library in honor of a sociopath and war monger former president that invaded a third world country for their 40 years of oil reserves:
What is the future of such a nation? Self-destruction due to its own immorality?
and worst we call ourselves a christian nation. this nation is anything but what jesus taught.
I just read your comments at NAMING HIS GRACE and I am glad some one else took up the cause. Thanks. You have made some excellent points.
I've had enough. You can see my final comment to Viola at Coffee Break 131.
love, john + www.abundancetrek.com + We are intimately, intricately and infinitely connected by a matrix of unconditional, unlimited and uniting love which is miraculous, mysterious and marvelous.
If life really is a dance, then who's tune are we dancing to?
“If life really is a dance, then who's tune are we dancing to?”
Well if you are dancing to the tune of capitalism the Christian devil itself could not have devised a more selfish and corrupt economic ideological system. It is based on survival of the fittest mode of being in the world and goes against just about everything Jesus taught.
Capitalism is selfishness defined and most Christians worship at the altar of capitalism. Go figure.
Stated another way capitalism is more about Darwinism than the Christianity Jesus taught. The capitalists have convinced most Americans that their only choices are socialism or capitalism; in my youth it was capitalism or communism. There is always an enemy with the capitalists therefore always a war to be fought. I.e. for profits of course.
The evidence is clear as to what the capitalists have given to us. They now control congress, white house, supreme court and the media and of course the industrial military complex and its war machine with 720 military bases around the world and two unwinable wars that have lasted longer than nam.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful thought today. I really needed to hear it.
Very True...Life is either struggle or dance, at any moment of time. Either awakening or hallucination...
@Dred: it does not matter on whose tune or what tune you are dancing, you can dance even on noise. what matters is the dance...:)
I really like your blog. I've been searching for religious blogs as a way to share my faith. My favorite so far is George Fellendorf's blog, which is a glimpse at his book "My Problem's, God's Solutions" It's totally worth the read!
I think you may really like this. It is an article by an ex pastor. I believe the belief system expressed in this article will help people toward a more progressive worldview if they have a chance to read it. Let me know what you think. Also, you can join them on Facebook under "Balance" if you like it.

Life is indeed a dance as King David showed us, a song as Marianne sang and played... Thanks for sharing!
Are you gone again?? Hope not.

It is often easier for us to focus on life being a dance than life being a struggle. Certainly, it is more immediately pleasurable to feel the joy in the dance than the growth in the struggle. Yet we are really more totally alive when we fully embrace both.
It would be nice if you posted more often... I enjoy your blog. I may not comment often but I do follow it as I am sure many others do.
It's kind of good song because this song is like, not on youtube. Here they rarely play it on the radio, but it's a good song. Thanks for at least posting something.

There is a new documentary being produced you might find interesting called "Mysteries of the Jesus Prayer." I thought maybe you could post something about the film on your website. It's about the secret practices of monks and nun across the world.
Here's the website:

Thank you!
in spite of its different names or techniques, the oriental dance is a celebration of life, of dynamism, of passion that lies within us, and the expression of the eternal feminine mystery that charms the soul with genuine emotions.
Please support the gay struggle against heterosexual power. We, the gay brotherhood, are determined to rule the world. Join us verbaly and economicaly. Make people change there mind about us and tell them to se us as natural leaders. We have great influence in media and will change the agenda to put down the heterosexual sociaty. Never buy products or services from heterosexuals. Always talk well about homosexuals - we never commit a crime (at least brothers in media will never wright about it). Disturb hetrosexuals, steal their ideas and "own" their belongings.
great source here. glad i located this. no truer a post than what you wrote today. also many thanks to "anonymous" who listed the serious political battles and injustices we face and to think we are a better country than most. keep it up we need a variety of opinions like yours. its refreshing to say the least.
Indeed, it is!
Jesus Christ, whom the extreme Right Wing have tried to kidnap from the Cross and strap in the voting booth, was the first operative Liberal with a Social Safety Net approved by Heaven itself. The Right Wing will ultimately fail in their efforts to subvert and transform everything good and decent about America to their world view of a psuedo-Christian Theocratic Dictatorship where there are only two classes: The served and the servers. http://thelimingview.blogspot.com/
Very nice thought!
Thanks for sharing!
Yes, Life is a Dance where we all are dancing in god's melody!
Sometimes in tune of happiness and sometimes in sorrow!
But, we all are dancing!!!

Really Great! I like the stuff you wrote and its wonderful. I like the views and they are really moving. I love to write my views on spirituality and religion. You may like those also. You can visit my site www.http://anmolshabad.blogspot.com/
I was recently asked by my boss to write an essay on religion. I decided upon a work of fiction, a story that was meant to be challenging and thought-provoking.
Given your own high quality prose and firm standpoint, I would be grateful for any comments you might have.

Ya we must enjoy life by comparing it to anything like dance, songs ...

First if anyone would take the time to really look at Jesus WITHOUT colored glasses they would see a Jesus that was excommunicated from his own religion. They would see a Jesus that was homeless. They would see a Jesus that was often hungry. They would see a Jesus that walked almost every where he went. They would see a Jesus who helped the poor... the sick... the sinner... They would see a Jesus that identified with them. Jesus was also a sinner. I do not believe Jesus healed the sick or feed thousands of followers with bread and fish... Where were all the followers when Pilate offered to free Jesus. I don't buy the story that the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes...
I do not consider my self a Christian. Yet, I have the same question. Why do Christians and Jews and others turn away from what the Bible teaches us?
Recently I wrote a book entitled A Sincere Journey Ends Without Jesus. It's an Autobiogarphy from the time I used to be a Baptist Pastor until my return to Judaism. In the book I discuss some of my feelings about Christianity.
The writer of this blog points out that Christians see all these issues and how poorly our government is run and do nothing. I am not surprised. Our government can't not fix things but each of us can. I think that was the message... Do we talk about change or do we work to bring about change?
I Teach that each of us are our brothers neighbor. We are responsible for our brother. I teach that we should pay a tithe of 10% in money and time everyday helping others. Think what a difference our would would be if each of us gave 72 hours each month to help others. Our world would be a better place. 72 hours? Yes! 17.25 hours each week or 2.45 hours each day helping others. 72 hours a month is only 10% of our time.
The point is to compare what we do or don't do with the least we should do. Jesus gave all his time helping others...
I invite the readers of this blog to visit my blog and possible consider purchasing one of my books.

Life is a dance, incredibly and absolutely true. Life is full of obstacles, hurdles, ups and downs. That is why I agree life is a dance, it is a matter on how you take it, listen to the rhythm of the sound and go on with the music and flow. It depends on the person on how he takes it, its fast, hip hop, ballad, etc. I learned something new today.
