Cycle of Violence
Israeli Children Sign Shells to be Fired Into Lebanon. I got this from Doug's Dark World. With pictures like this, one doesn't have to wonder if the cycle of violence will continue into the future. And Jesus wept.
This site hopefully can provide some vehicle by which I can comment, complain, and once in a while praise the state of religion in this country and around the world from a liberal religious perspective.

The picture of the children signing the shells brings tears to my eyes and a chill in my heart.
You might be interested in http://speaking-metaphorically.blogspot.com/, a blog that has a new post thought-provoking every Wednesday. The current post is "The Truth about Privilege." In this post, the pastor of a Midwestern church discusses the concept of a chosen people in relation to war.
I've been hearing that those pictures are bunk. Much like the ones of the soldiers on a ship where an arial shot gets them standing in a way it spells out "Bomb Iraq" or something.
I find it interesting that all of the "progressive" blogs are so offended by these pictures when for years, throughout the Arab world we have seen children dressed as suicide bombers screaming death to Israel in demonstrations, and in fact actually used to deliver bombs into the shops, buses and cafes of Israel, and I don't remember any of this outrage.
By way of background on these photos I suggest you look at this site.

Whether you agree with it or not, at least these children's ire is aimed at someone who wants them dead, which is more than I can say about their militant Arab counterparts.
I think the kids were put up to it by journalists...apparently they're were a dozen of them present...it looks pretty staged to me...just look behind the girl at the second photographer.
Look at the Hezballah images of kids in sucide vests and you see people who really mean it...
On a related note, check the prayers going up over at Kos...
Pray for the Speedy Peaceful Dismantlement of the State of Israel.
And the tradional linking of Jews and Typhus in response,
I second the suggestion. Unhappily Israel has not served as a Jewish refuge; it has become a spreading plague.
If this is what most liberals are praying for, Jews are in trouble.
forgot the link.
Anonymous, the pictures are bogus. They aren't real. So chill dog.
Jesus Wept...because liberals keep putting blame on a "circle of violence" when the real culprit in all of this is radical Islam.
Like Dennis Prager said, this is a very difficult problem to solve, but a very easy one to define, radical Muslims want to wipe Israel off the face of the planet, period. That's all.
sorry to do this, but i thought you might be interested in my blog on religion. it seems to me that we would agree on quite a few issues:

i'd be happy to exchange links!
The reality of the picture is not the issue. The idea that anyone would pray for the death of another is anethema to Christianity. And it's chilling also to think of children being suicide bombers. You could even go so far as to say that asking your child to pray for the death of Saddam or Osama is antiChristian. There is a difference between justice and wanting someone dead.
The reality of the picture is not the issue.
If reality isn't the issue in a war, what in the world is?
Of course unauthorized personel, let alone children, are not permitted anywhere near military ordinance, so I would say this was staged and these young minds were excited by some manipulative adults. I guess that at that age I too would be excited if a WWII or Korean War vet gave me a pep talk and then let me 'sign' a bomb. The trappings of war are very enchanting when you are out of harms way and the threats are distant, more so when the threats are near.
FYI, The pictures are real. Please see http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1153291980307&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull
That's the Jerusalem Post, a reputable newspaper, that backed up their veracity.
No, the problem isn't radical Muslims. The problem is people who think that force can solve complex problems. Muslims do not have a monopoly on this madness. To say that the problem is "radical Muslims" ignores the west's long shameful non-stop history of invasion, coups, violence, colonization, and meddling in the middle east is disingenuous at best. "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." Galatians 6:7
of course they're real picturs anon...
...the question is are they staged.
They are clearly staged.
Now, the stuff Reuters has been posting is not real.
